Radha Muthiah, Executive Director of the Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves, introduces former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton at the the third anniversary celebration of the Alliance. Clinton launched the Alliance in 2010, and it was announced tonight that she will chair the Alliance’s Leadership Council.
Kathy Calvin, President and CEO of the UN Foundation, then joined the two on stage to present Secretary Clinton with a gift.
The Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves seeks to mobilize high-level national and donor commitments toward the goal of universal adoption of clean cookstoves and fuels. Its ambitious but achievable goal is to foster the adoption of clean cookstoves and fuels in 100 million households by 2020. The Alliance is mobilizing support from a wide range of private, public, and non-profit stakeholders.
