What is a Chicago Anti-Hunger Federation agency?
An agency is a:
- Food Pantry
- Soup Kitchen
- Emergency Shelter
- Day Care Center (child or senior)
Bi-monthly distributions consist of fresh produce and food staples. Day care distributions are monthly. CAHF purchases strictly first-quality produce from vendors at South Water Market and our product rarely sits in our warehouse longer than two days.
Fresh in…fresh out.
What does it cost to become an agency?
The annual fee to become an agency is $600. Fees paid in full prior to December 31st receive a $100 discount, paying $500. The average distribution is 450 pounds. Day care distributions average 200 pounds.
What other criteria is there?
There will be an initial inspection of your facility and your distribution process. CAHF wants to ensure that all product is distributed safely and in a timely manner. Your site will be subject to an annual safety and sanitation inspection as well.
